Sohini comes from a musical family; both her parents are approved artistes of All India Radio (AIR), Cuttack. She began her musical journey at the age of five and received formal training in Hindustani classical vocal music under Pandit Devendra Narayan Satapathy. She is a B High Grade approved artiste of AIR.
Her versatility spans classical, modern, and film music. She has recorded songs in Odia, Hindi, and Bengali, and is a prominent voice in the Odia film industry. Some of her notable Odia films include Thukul, Prem Weds Priya, Rudra, Bajrang, and Hero No.1. She also contributed to the 2015 film Pilata Bigidigala, singing tracks like “Nisa Nisa” and “Hatara Mehendi” .
Beyond music, Sohini holds an MS in Biotechnology from Ravenshaw University, Cuttack. She has balanced her academic pursuits with her musical career, crediting her family for their unwavering support .
Finalist in ETV’s Idea Amari Swara 2010, showcasing her vocal talent early and gaining recognition across Odisha for her melodious performances.
Achieved national fame as a Top 6 Finalist in Indian Idol 2012, impressing judges and audiences with her powerful and soulful voice.
